Descriptions
|
| Level
1 Water Exploration |
| Students
are orientated to the aquatic environment and gain a sound foundation for
aquatic and safety skills. |

| Level
2 Primary Skills |
| Students
expand on fundamental aquatic locomotion and safety skills. Upon
successful completion, students are able to float independently and swim 5 yards
on their front and back. |

Level
3 Stroke Readiness
|
| Students
increase swimming skill competency and practice safety and rescue skills.
Upon successful completion, students are able to perform back crawl and
elementary backstroke 10 yards each, front crawl stroke 10 yards breathing to
the side, and swim in deep water. |

|
Level
4 Stroke Development
|
| Students
develop confidence and competency in strokes and safety skills beyond preceding
levels. Swimmers are introduced to breaststroke and sidestroke. Upon
successful completion, students can perform front crawl and back crawl 25 yards
each, breaststroke and sidestroke kicks 10 yards each, and dive from the side of
the pool. |

Level
5 Stroke Refinement
|
| Students
continue refinement of front crawl, back crawl, elementary backstroke,
breaststroke, and sidestroke. Swimmers are introduced to butterfly,
surface dives, and springboard diving. Upon successful completion,
students are able to swim front crawl and back crawl 50 yards each, elementary
backstroke 25 yards, breaststroke and sidestroke 10 yards each. |

Level
6 Skill Proficiency |
|
Students
polish strokes so they may swim with ease, efficiency, and
endurance. Skills taught include approach strokes, coordinating
butterfly stroke and kick, introduction to breast stroke pullout,
front crawl flip turn, head-first surface dives. |

| Diving |
|
This
course teaches basics of springboard diving. Students should already know
how to perform a standing dive from the pool's edge, have strong swimming
ability, and be comfortable in deep water.

| Junior
Lifeguarding (Ages 11-14) |
|
Students
are introduced to basic lifeguarding skills such as scanning, water entry,
approach, and life saving techniques. Upon completion, junior lifeguards
will have a general understanding of the duties and responsibilities of a
lifeguard.

Aerobics |

A
strength, toning and aerobic conditioning class set to music.

Complimentary
babysitting services are offered for children 1-3 years old and will be provided at a ratio of
one staff member per eight children.

| Registration
Procedure |
| Registration will take place
in the Concession area on the days and times indicated. In case on inclement weather; registration will be held
in the office. The student must have his-her membership pass (Classes
are for members only). Registration will only be
taken one session at a time. |

| Cancelled
Classes |
| Every
effort will be made to hold lessons. Lightning, hard rain or temperatures
below 70 degrees at 8:45 a.m. will cause cancellation. Cancelled classes
will be held on the Friday immediately following the missed class. |

| Private
Lessons |
| Private
lessons are available for children 6 years and older at $20.00 per half-hour
lesson (minimum 4 lessons). Private lessons can be scheduled any time the
facility is open. Instructors are all Red Cross Certified Water
Safety Instructors. |
